The Great Escaping Squid OFF 2018

How I won the Great Escaping Squid OFF!

In the last moments I bagged these beauties!
But they were just the Icing on the cake!!
It all started back in 2016 when all 'us girls' who worked together, finally had 1 day off together!
'Lets go fishing' was the first obvious comment, read more here if you care how Johnno won 1st year?

A year later, 2017 (I didn't win so I didn't right a blog hahahahaha), Us Girls (and now into it partners) realised this was a great friendship bonding/building/pissup moment not to be taken for granted!  So organised another fun day out on the water.
I don't remember the logistics of it because we don't have a secretary (aka we were all too drunk), but SOME HOW???  Geoff won???  How the F did that happen!!! hahahah!!!

Year 3 MEETING night, before the 2018 comp:
trophy made by fallow comp supporter,
held by past two years winners.

2018

Slow start to the day due to Exmouth windy weather forecast.
Saturday morning was not like most others...well actually it kind of was: we were hung over expecting windy waters.
The comp had been postponed till mid day due to morning wind predictions....we were texting each other at 8am when the water was calm as with...well you can guess what we were all saying??

Breakfast waiting for the 'wind' to break!

WE READY!!
Thanks K-mart!

Couldn't wait any longer, lets just DO IT!!
The night before we had all agreed 11am lines in, due to early morning winds??  After watching the CALM waters all morning, we put our boats in, saying 'we will fish till you all get here'!.  No chance, competition was hot on our tail with the same idea.

Getting ready.

OHH here comes the competition.

Just 'fishing'!

Alright, lets go!

Of course that is when the wind starts picking up!

10:30am!

Like 2 minutes later!! 😬😳

Neil took out the first squid

We got a squid each!

Need I say more?

It was when Johnno got 3 squid on the score board, that things got interesting!!
He was bored with trolling, so decided to cast at weed, while I continued to troll at my intended super slow 1 knot speed!
All his casting, from a reel unused in a long time, lead (that's his excuse) to a big 'birds nest'.   So bad that he couldn't cast any more, or even troll very far out, HAHA straight after I'd worked out further back is better!!!

Neil, Johnno and I were all around 3 squid each.  Had johnno had his line out future, or been able to cast to the other squid, i'm sure it would have been a different story...but this is a comp, and numbers count!!! So I made to most of Johnno's disability, and pulled in all the squid I could see!!!

My Smallest Squid of the day!

With 15 Squid on board, I had to start cleaning them before...we all got drunk!

Number 10+11 for me...while 2nd place was still at 6!!
WINNING!!

WINNING!!!

Did I say Winning...oh I meant WINNER!!
