20 Goals for year 2020

2019 was all about YouTube.  Our YouTube channel grow to reach over 1,000 subscribers by producing weekly episodes of our fishing and outdoor adventures.

Link here to Blog about YouTube growth

It's been a few years since I set some serious SMART goals for the New-Year.  Winning Lotto or catching a metre barramundi are not realistic goals as they are totally out of my control.  This year is actually a lot about control.  Taking control of my life to get my fitness and finances back on track.

We plan to use 2020 to:
 - Continue to grow our YouTube channel by FISHING LOTS! While learning more about the back door of Google, how to optimums sharing to spread the joy.
- Regain our fitness....its been a fun few years, but time to get those running shoes back on.
- Finish projects already started.  We came back to Derby in 2018 to renovate the house, we need to start doing some of that.
- Still have LOTS of fun, and plan a couple of holidays, all while still catching lots of fish.

One of my 20 goals for 2020 is to write 20 BLOGS, so you will be hearing a lot more from me on this format.  That's not including this post.  I was going to 'schedule' it to be released tomorrow, new years day, haha.  But that's cheating, can't start the New year off like that.  Today has been interesting, checking out my old blog, so many memories here of past adventures, so please be sure to have a look and let me know what you think.

As part of our 1000 Subscribers on YouTube celebrations we gave away TWO brag mats, one on YouTube and one on Facebook. I think as part of getting this blog up and running again, we will give away a Brag Mat on here as well. Stay tuned for more details about that.

Positive Fishing BRAG MAT we have ordered more due to arrive early 2020

It's New Years Eve, I've been at work, then home playing on here sorting out this blog page.  I just got a text from a friend that they caught 14 Barra today!!!  I'm out of here!!  I'm off to cook Pizza for dinner while packing up the car and tinny for an all day fishing adventure tomorrow!
But here's a photo of the last Barra I caught.  YouTube clip ready to be released this Saturday morning.

96cm Barra caught on live bait just out of  Derby, Western Australia

Have a safe and fabulous New Years everyone.

MUD CRABS, MUDDY BOAT RAMP, & STUCK IN THE MUD Epic 5 hours BOGGED

The clip everyone has been waiting for!!

How we got into such an Epic Bogging!!

and how we got out.

POSITIVELY BOGGED!
Living in Derby, Western Australia, WE LOVE MUD!! You have to love Mud to live here!  We are surrounded by Mud flats, they are beautiful, but dangerous!
This little remote boat ramp is hard to get to, and you have to pick your tides right!  Here is a link to what happens if you get your tides wrong, you end up rolling around in the mud:
https://youtu.be/asdWu86dSLk
This day the tides were good, but it is still hard work to get little boats in and out of the water!
But much worse than the boat ramp is the deceiving Mud Flats! One wrong turn and it all turns to mud pie!!
I hope people learn from this clip and are very careful when exploring The Kimberley.  It's dangerous out there folks!

On a 'Positive' note, we had Mud Crabs the next day between cleaning.
Oh yah, that was an EPIC cleaning day!!!!

Please Subscribe to our channel to see more outdoor adventure's like this.

My YouTube Evolution.

TEN YEARS ON YOUTUBE!

My first Blog for 2019!
- the last few Blogs were just links to my YouTube page, part of my new obsession, to learn and grow as much as I can.

April 2019 will be TEN YEARS of YouTube for me!
Ten years since I set up my YouTube account to share video footage of our amazing time at Kimberley Coastal Camp!
Kimberley Coastal Camp
One of the most remote fishing camps on Earth!

Link to KCC YouTube Playlist Check out this link if you are interested in learning more about that most amazing place and time in our life.  But remember it is Ten Years old, so even though the fishing and scenery is amazing, the video clarity is not what people expect today.

Eleven years ago, I first discovered Facebook, and loved that I could share photos with my family.
Evolution of Facebook: Positive Fishing  is on facebook, so now I can share with the whole world!

Remember we are talking a bleed'n decade ago, time goes so fast!!
Way back then, I was EMAILING my family letters and photos!!  Thanks goodness for Emails really, because we only went to the Mail plane twice in the 5 months we were caretaking there (not for mail, but fresh fruit and veg).
Once I discovered YouTube, I fall in love with being able to share video footage with everyone.
Mind you I was still making DVD's to send home, and only uploading the short clips straight off my video camera.  It was years later that YouTube let me upload clips longer than 5mins, and that is when I uploaded the clips on KCC playlist above, of our camp life.

So jump forward a couple of years, we are home in Derby town, working, living normal lifes, hahaha nothing normal about Derby!!  The video footage onto YouTube slows, who is interested in us working??  ;)
We are always fishing, catching, cooking, filming!!!  So I start recording again.
Up The Coast from Derby: Buccaneer Achipelago
At that time, we were taking our big boat Black Thing, Up the coast' regularly with friends (it's always good to have another boat around when you go that remote!!).
The fishing and scenery is amazing, so I started making party clips of our time up there.  Trying to add the best music landed me in the poop.
Back then YouTube was not so worried about Copyright, they let you use any music you wanted, so I had heaps of very cool clips.  Then as the music laws started changing a few of my clips got strikes against them, and then a few were banned from being able to play on YouTube at all :(
I was devastated!!

My favorite clip (my biggest fish) was BANNED IN ALL COUNTIES due to AC/DC playing in the back ground!  It was heart braking when I had to delete the soundtrack, which also removed some of the chit-chat.

But we roll with the punches, learn from our mistakes, and move on IMPOVED!!

My next mistake: link to our time LIVING ON THE BEACH
While LIVING on the beach in 2015, this could have been an awesome YouTube opportunity, but instead I started this Blog.   I treated my Blog as if I were writing home to family, one big letter to everyone.  I used my YouTube clips as an extension to the blog, like pictures after you have read the story.  Next time (that's a whole other blog!) I will give them both a life of there own!!  I can tell the full story on Blog AND YouTube!
-I love my blog, it's not being left out!

Between then and now, I practiced little bits of everything while living in Exmouth

So TEN YEARS on: I'm still super passionate about Fishing, Filming and Movie making.

NOW: since the change of YouTube rules last year, I have had a big eye opener.  I did not even realise what was going on with my clips from copyright issues. I had 3 clips Banned from ALL countries (AC/DC has strong copyright laws!!) and A LOT of other clips the music was making the money off instead of me!!
Stop, hold it, wait a minute! I totally agree that the bands, singers, musicians SHOULD be getting the money!! I just didn't know what I was doing.  So now I have had the LONG process of trying to take music off my old clips, only to realise that
- some I can not remove.
- if I remove it, the clips are not as good.
- the music is old,
- the clips are old.

I've been reminiscing too much!  Looking back on my own memories, thinking too much about my old clips. Instead of moving on and making new movies/memories!

WHEN THE YOUTUBE RULES CHANGED!  This woke me up a bit, made me think about my channel, clips and the future of Positive Fishing on YouTube.
Oh and my computer, GoPro and phone all needed to be upgraded at the same time = a sign for sure!

What Now:  I'm learning!
I am giving myself a year of learning  about filming, editing, YouTube laws! And hopefully picking up a few Subscribers and useful feedback on the way.

So if you would like to be part of my YouTube growth, and watch us fish our way around Australia and NZ, please be sure to subscribe to our channel: Positive Fishing

I'd love feed back on all my YouTube clips, and Blogs please!
Let me know what you think.  I have big shoulders I can handle anything.
Let me know what you would like to see more of, or any subject, place or topic you think we should show more of.

I'm excited about my Social Media future!

Oh and did I mention that we are off on another FISHING holiday to NZ in just 2 weeks!!!
Stay tuned for more YouTube movies AND blogs!

Monster Barracuda with Sharp Teeth

I'm so excited!
I've found an easy to use Movie Editing Program that I love!!
This clip of my Uncle from NZ  catching a big Barracuda from Up the coast, above Derby, Western Australia, was filmed a few years back.
I was experimenting with my new program, to make sure I know what I'm doing, ready for the weekend!
Bring on the fish!
Hopefully lots of new fishing and footage coming up soon!
There is a link on the clip if you would like to see the full day of fishing.
PLEASE be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube channel, that would help a lot.

Thanks everyone.

Catch and EAT!! Would you eat raw fish?

Because we didn't catch anything to 'write home about' this weekend, I made this instead.
Exciting News is, this is the FIRST file I opened from our old files!!
I have so many clips to sort!!!
Just for the record, we both really like Sushi / raw tuna NOW.
Now that we have learnt how to prepare it properly...not just straight off the bone!!!
