Beautiful one day...

Beautiful Exmouth: Clear blue sky's, No wind or swell, clear blue waters! Prefect for a day.

Windy the next!

I have already written blogs about Windy Exmouth, and have countless FaceBook comments about the 'weekend' wind.  People not from here must be starting to think it's always windy in Exmouth.  In fact people who live here but work all week must be thinking the same, as it truly IS windy Every Sunday!!  It's Sunday morning, and I'm sorting photos instead of fishing, because the wind is blowing so hard again!

However I was lucky enough to have a day off during the week, before the wind picked up.  So I have some beautiful calm, (how Exmouth looks in the post cards) photos to share with you all.

Weekday fishing on my own, before the wind picked up for the weekend again.
Unfortunately I do not have any big fish photos to share with you, not because they weren't there, but simply because I could not get them to stay on my hook.

I had an awesome hour fishing.  Large Queenfish came out of nowhere to chase my lure, several times hitting it, but never staying connected.  I would cast out a different lure, the Queenies would come charging for it, but again not connect.  If I cast the same lure again they would show no interest.  I'd change my lure and they would charge for it again, but not take it.  I went through my whole tackle box, with them showing interest, but not committing, every time I changed my lure.  That was a very intense but very frustrating hour!!  Then they were gone :( not to be seen again that afternoon.

After work Fly Casting practice, making the most of the still week nights...before the wind picked up in the weekend!

I stopped in at Bundegi for a Fly fish on my way back into town.  I was pretty excited to see how well I can cast with no wind, as I have pretty much learnt to cast in the wind.  I was devastated to realise that I Can't cast!! hahahaha, seems I am too used to using the wind to help me cast, and the lack of wind meant a lack of fly casting ability!!  The wind started picking up while I was there, of course as that was Friday afternoon after all, the start of the weekend.  I got my casting ability back, but no fish to practice casting at.

A beautiful moment happened when I first pulled into Bundegi:  I jumped out of the car with my phone in hand to send Johnno (who was at work) a photo of the beautiful calm clear water, he works all week, so only gets to see the windy weekends ;)  I hadn't even noticed the Sea Eagle sitting right where I had parked.  It was a beautiful moment, she started there long enough for me to get Canon camera from the back seat and get some awesome photos.

I thought this was going to be my lucky fishing outfit...I'll have to wear it during the week!
That's me above, wearing all my Freebe's from the Fly Fishing Festival last month: MauiJim sunnies! LOOP Buff, and Fly Gal shirt.  I so wanted to catch a fish wearing all this, could have been a great photo...but I can't catch fish :(

This is why I moved to Exmouth!!

I had a dream, I dreamt the dream, then I lived the dream!

In my most wonderful of all dreams I am always swimming in the ocean with dolphins.  Today I got very close to that dream, with a very special up close and personal encounter with these amazing creatures.

One of the many reasons we moved to Exmouth WA, Australia 6707 was to 'live on the beach', to experience all the ocean has to offer.  Some times normal life, like work and house renovations, get in the way of the real dream.
My real dream being just to enjoy to ocean, all that lives in it, and all the freedom (and challenges) that come with it.
This afternoon thanks to amazing friends I've meet here, I got the chance to just sit back and take it all in, and then get up close and personal with it's most amazing creatures.  Whales breaching close enough to see from the beach!   Manta-rays swimming under the Jet Ski!  Fish in abundance.  Eagles over head.  Oh and the most amazing, DOLPHINS, not just that they were everywhere, but that they would swim around our Jet Ski.  We could turn off the motor and just sit there as they played around us!  Six or more grown adult dolphins with a baby playing around them, and they just carried on as if we were part of the game!!
Another very amazing moment in my life!
Thank you to my wonderful friends that shared this experience with me! xxx

It's looking at us looking at it!

No Polorised on my waterproof camera, but how clear is this water, as the baby dolphin checks US out!!

Windy Exmouth

Just another windy Sunday in Exmouth WA
Right now I'm feeling glad that I have other enjoyments in life, not 'just fishing'.
I love to fish, and I would be the happiest girl in Exmouth if there had been dead flat calm seas, and clear blue skies every day...but there has not!!
We have to learn to take the good with the bad, and as much as I would like this blog to be about the super big fish that I sight cast a fly to...it is not :(
Instead this very short blog will be about the wonderful bird life that we got to enjoy along the shore line, while looking for somewhere to fish, trying to hide from the 40kmph winds that came up for the 3rd Sunday in a row here in Exmouth...that's it I'm having mid week days off from now on!!

Not the clearest photo of the many Osprey's here in Exmouth, but loving this shot for it's Talons!
