What has brought you joy today?

Life is a series of thousands of tiny miracles.

 Notice them!

Eagles always bring me joy!
Wedgetail Eagle, Cape Range National Park, Exmouth WA.

To cut to the chase, because you should all be out doing more of what you love, instead of reading about what I love: We went for an early morning drive this morning.

Cape Range National Park.  Ningaloo Reef
I love the Aussie Outback as much as the ocean.

Johnno fall asleep in the car, having just come home from a 13 hour night shift.  So I left him snoring while I went for a little bush walk upon seeing these amazing Wedges on a ridge, over looking the road, the ocean and the country side.

Easily spotted from the road by their size.
I was surprised how close I got to them.
 Happy Karen!
A quick zoom in on the long lens as I got closer,
I knew they were getting ready to fly
.

Such grace and ease, I never get sick of watching that!

Be careful to pay attention!  I was so focused (trying to focus) on the Wedges, I did not even notice this roo until I downloaded the photos, it's in heaps of them, just sitting there watching me watching the eagles.

Recently when driving into the Cape Range National Park to go fishing, I have often thought how I would love to walk the range as well.  Today was the first time I've been East of the road, the reef with all it's amazing fish is to the West ;)
I walked one tiny little bump, compared to what is out there, but took in so much.

And then I got to relive the beautiful relaxing morning by downloading my photos and posting them on this blog.  I love my blog :)

I do love the Galah's as well

Big Red was eating beside the Galah's before he noticed me, but he didn't go too far.

Note to new readers: Yes this is a mainly a fishing and camping blog, with a taste of dogs, wildlife, cooking and maybe some fitness (na I have a different page for that).  But I'm not camping at the moment, and every now and then I talk about other stuff, like...feelings!!!

Today I felt connected with the Cape Range landscape.  My very short walk centred me, actually it stopped me in my tracks!  I sat watching the beautiful big Wedge Tail Eagles watching me, knowing  the love of my life was close by, sleeping in the car, while taking in the amazing view of the Ningaloo Reef.  I felt at home, not just a nice homely feeling that I have had for the last year and a half while living here, but really like THIS IS HOME!  This is where I am meant to be, and I love it!!
Expect to see a lot more blogs and photos of the Range as well as the Reef!

Sitting on a rock taking in my HOME!
Where the Outback meets the Reef.
I LOVE IT ALL!!

I love rain & I love technology.

It's going to rain all day, so I am going to play on the internet all day.
Seems I have been talking a lot about rain and the internet this last week.  What does it mean when the same subject keeps reappearing in your life?  I'll take it as a sign and use this rainy day to play on my computer, to enjoy the moment.
My office space has been taken over by outdoor furniture and bored dogs.
Does the rain slow you down?  I feel all relaxed and lethargic, not that I can't be bothered doing anything, just that I don't want to do anything.

Johnno started night shifts this week, so I've been creeping around the house during the day to let him sleep.  I started a good book.  I normally only read novels when we are living on the beach, all that time on your hands.  I couldn't put it down.  I spent 2 days and nights on the couch until it was finished (proving that I don't need technology, an old fashioned book still does the job).  Then when I was finished the book I was a little 'stunned'?  You know that feeling, when you have had your head in another world, then you come back to reality and are not sure what to do with yourself.

I went to Yoga, I cooked, I eat, and I drunk 😜 and that was just last night.

Now i'm enjoying the beautiful sound of the gentle continual rain.  It's the icing on the cake of my relaxation week.

The rain is wonderful for my garden and lawn.
Making the most of my lazy computer day today,
because next week I will be mowing and weeding!
I'm always amused with people who commit or use those fun Meme's 'We don't care what you had for breakfast, or how far you run', or 'how many fish you caught', hahaha, na just kidding, no-one says that last one do they?
I love sharing on SnapChat, YouTubeInstagramFacebook and this blog, and I love seeing what others share.   Technology is a wonderful thing!  I can watch my niece's grow up, and can see what all the pro's are catching, I can find a new recipe in minutes.  It's such a big part of my life.
Now if they could just use all this technology to find life on other planets I'd be 'over the moon'.

My new weights area is flooded,
but I'm too relaxed to do weights to day anyway.
Our new outdoor entertaining area #thebenchwithdrinksonit has become The Bench With No Drinks On It,
but that's ok because we are having an AFW (minus all the wine I drunk while cooking last night).

Sunday Fun-day!

It was a bit of a shock to the system when Johnno told me he had to work today: SUNDAY!!

Beautiful stormy season here in Exmouth WA at the moment.
Sundays are for fishing, full stop!  Nothing else, definitely NOT working!!  So I was a little lost this morning with what to do with myself once Johnno had gone to work...do I go fishing by myself?  hahaha can I be that much of a bitch girlfriend?  Go it alone while the man is out earning the hard earned cash to keep the house running?  Um, he is lucky it was windy!!  I played good wifey, staying in to clean and do food prep instead.  Luckily for both of us, he came home at lunch time just as the wind was dropping off!!

We packed Black Thing in a flash!  The wind is so unpredictable, we didn't want to miss our chance of getting out, even if it was only for a short while.  Not wanting to go too far in the afternoon, knowing the wind was going to pick up again shortly, we headed straight out from the marina to where we had seen and caught tuna the week before.

Karen's first fish for 2017, caught the week before.
I did not get around to writing a blog about it, but might still make a YouTube clip
as it was heaps of fun on my light weight gear!
Bits of bait and a few birds working, had us slowly drifting further out and around, unsure what to do.  Cast at fast moving bait schools here, chase some birds there.  Nik Minit: Free Jumping Sailfish!!!  And again, and again and again, WOW what a beautiful sight!!

We are always so indecisive on tackle when we just 'pop out for a quick fish'.  What to do, where to go.  We had been trolling, flicking, and popping, but then out come the Sailfish gear.  Trolling with skirts, teasers out, high on hopes.  Johnno's rod bent over, 'take me, take me now'!  Ah ok, lets slow it down a fraction here, reminder to you all that I have never caught a sailfish before, so Johnno (such a gentleman??) insisted (loudly) that I take the rod.  But it was his rod running, so I was not prepared for this, I was in full 'get the gear out of the way' mode.  Chaos rained for a split second before we both went into battle mode...both to realise very quickly that it was most likely NOT a sailfish :(
But I was still on a good first fish for the afternoon and ever so thankful that Johnno gave me his rod ;)

First fish for this afternoon, Tervalley caught while trolling for Sailfish.
Excitement wained a little after this.  No more sailfish sightings, and not much bird activity, brought us back to trolling deeper lure's again.

When the birds started working around us again, we were quick to pull in the trolling lure's, not having had much luck on them anyway.  Johnno sped ahead to catch up with the schooling bait fish.  First cast of my heavy popper and I was on with in seconds!  It was bloody perfect!

Heaps more fun on my light weight casting gear!
Thanks again Johnno for being such an awesome skipper and letting me catch all the fish! xxx

Photo from last week: Johnno brought me a selfie stick!
He also got a new hat, more protection from the sun, he is now known as: Johnno the Hat!
:)
