Sunday Fun-Day

Willie Creek it’s the place to be!

Low tide: looking back towards our camp, behind the dune
We went for a walk down the beach at low tide to take photos and catch some whiting for lunch.  We had heard a few quad bikes driving around, but can not see the beach on low tide from our camp, it’s the other side of a small sand dune.  On top of the dune, looking over we stopped and had a little laugh at the amount of people here fishing.  Obviously the word is out that the salmon have arrived!

Some of the many people fishing the incoming tide.

We were surprised at Easter, of the lack of people, thinking because we are so close to Broome that at would be an easy day out to come here.  Seems it is!!  Broomie’s must have all left town for Easter, because half the town was here yesterday.  We don’t mind sharing our beach…for one day ;) lucky it is empty again this morning.  We run into the man that John rescued when stuck on the beach last week.  He was surprised to see we were still here, and promised to come back later with the carton he owed us.  Ya Ya what ever, but it would be nice; we run out of beer the day before, our first holiday AFD!

Being Good Dogs, not running up to everyone!!

Tide coming in at Willie Creek

As happens with fishing so often, we couldn’t find any Whiting.  Talking to the other fisherman on the beach they reckon the coral bloom, that had washed in that morning, had changed everything again.  It certainly changed the smell in the air!!
No whiting, but will have a throw anyway.

Live Bait anyone?

There were no Whiting around, and no salmon being caught.  However, one man, on his very first day ever fishing had caught a PERMIT!!! YES the fish that Johnno is here to catch!!  (We now have an extra sand hill next to our camp) ;)

So we have changed plans again, with neaps coming and hopefully this stinky coral bloom washed away soon, we are staying here to chase Permit!!

A hot afternoon unable to swim due to stinky water, we read a lot!  Johnno is now best friends with Jack Reacher, I’m sure he has read half a dozen of his stories already.  I started on ‘The Divided Mind’ a book about Psychosomatic illness’s, fascinating stuff!!  The power of our minds, amazing!!!

3pm we were contemplating what to do next, when a quad bike started heading to our camp, getting Charlie very excited, Wahooo something to bark at!!  I was Bolts the Broomie who Johnno had rescued from the in coming tide! He had a carton of Cider, Good Man!!  We sat and talked and drunk…the whole box!
Thanks Straps! We had run out of beer, but got an unexpected visitor.
Into the dark hours of the night…just after sunset.  Johnno and I talked about plans for, well the next day, because the plan is, there are no plans.  We did agree that we are not ready to move yet, we don’t want to first part of our holiday to be over yet.  So here we will stay for another couple of weeks, lucky a brought heaps of books before leaving Derby!!

Sat around the fire contemplating life and our future....where to fish tomorrow!!
